Plan your bifolds. Watch them fold.
Choose how many panels, which way they fold and whether they open in or out. Ask for a quote and we’ll note it, then check it against your opening at the survey.
Opening outwards
- The panels fold back onto the patio, so they take up no room inside.
Opening inwards
- The panels fold back into the room: useful where a step, decking or a narrow patio leaves no space outside.
A guide to the layout, not a design, and the colours are only a guide. Aluminium comes in over 150 RAL colours, with one colour inside and another outside if you like.
Level with the garden, or the whole corner open.
Two details that make bifolds feel like part of the room. We’ll tell you at the survey what your opening allows.
-
A low threshold
A low step from the room to the garden instead of a sill, or a level one with the right floor build-up. Ideal for families and step-free living.
-
No corner post
Two sets of bifolds meet at 90° with no post between them, so the whole corner of the room opens. Origin and Cortizo make them. It needs steelwork in place to support the corner, so it suits extensions and new builds.
Three bifold systems. Chosen for your opening.
Made in the UK or Spain, and every one tested to PAS 24 for security. We’ll recommend one for your opening and budget at the survey.
- Smart
- Stylish, reliable and great value, with plenty of panel and colour choices. Modern, or heritage-style with horizontal bars, and textured finishes too.
- Most homes
- Origin
- A 36, 49 or 72 mm sash, with handles, hinges and gaskets colour-matched to your frames, and dual colours. Origin says its OB36+ reaches 0.78 W/m²K with triple glazing.
- A premium finish
- Cortizo
- Bi-fold Plus: up to 14 panels, each up to 1.2 m wide and 3 m high, with a 110 mm centre section. Tested to PAS 24.
- Wide and tall openings
The cost of bifold doors, and what goes into it.
Nothing is off the shelf, so we price your bifolds once we’ve measured the opening: one written price for the doors and the fitting, to take away and think over. It’s made up of:
- The width
- The wider the opening, the more panels: from 2 up to 7 or more.
- The system
- Smart for great value; Origin or Cortizo for a premium finish or a very wide opening.
- Colour and finish
- Popular colours, any RAL colour, one colour each side, or a textured finish.
- Glass
- A-rated glass as standard, with triple glazing if you want it.
- The threshold
- A standard sill, or a low threshold for a smaller step.
- The opening
- A cornerless corner needs steelwork in place. We’ll check what yours needs at the survey.
“Options clearly explained, timeline and expectations managed. Pricing clear and competitive.”
A free survey, then a written price to take away. No pressure, no obligation.

How many panels can I have?
From 2 to 7 as standard, made to measure for your opening, folding back to one side or both.
Should they open in or out?
Either. Opening out keeps the room clear; opening in suits a step, decking or a narrow patio. The panels can stack inside or outside, depending on your space.
Can I have a level threshold?
Yes, with the right floor build-up: the track can be recessed so the floor runs level from room to patio. A flat track lets in more weather than a raised one, so we use it where the opening is sheltered, and a raised track can be sunk so the step is only 14 mm, says Origin.
How much do bifold doors cost?
It depends on the width, the system, the colour, the glass and the threshold. We measure for free and give you one written price for the doors and the fitting. See what goes into it.
Are bifold doors secure?
Yes. Smart’s Visofold has multi-point locks on the opening panels and shoot bolts on the others, and Origin’s bifolds have an 8-point lock and a 3-star cylinder. Every system we fit is tested to PAS 24, which needs security glass.
Will they keep the heat in?
Yes. Our aluminium bifolds have thermally broken frames and excellent U-values, with A-rated glass as standard.
Which brands do you fit?
Smart for great value and choice, Origin for an ultra-slim premium finish, and Cortizo for wide, tall openings and contemporary extensions.
Can I see bifolds working first?
Yes. Our Ipswich showroom has modern and heritage-style bifolds and cornerless setups on display, with standard and textured finishes side by side. Book ahead and we’ll make sure an adviser is free.
Do you fit cornerless bifolds?
Yes, where the structure allows: the corner needs steelwork in place to support it, so they usually go on extensions and new builds.
Who will fit my bifolds?
Admiral’s long-serving fitters, who work only for Admiral and have fitted bifolds for years: levelling the frame, sealing it cleanly and setting the tracks so the panels glide.
Can I spread the cost?
Yes. Finance through Novuna at 12.9% APR representative, from £500 to £25,000 over 1 to 10 years, or buy now, pay later at 14.9% APR. Finance is subject to status. Try the calculator.
